So my little munchkin officially turned 1 yesterday. She had a lovely day with cake and sparklers, and we did a party and naming ceremony for her on the weekend. I did the ceremony and of course I cried. Oh well, it was a pretty emotional achievement for us!
When I look at how she has changed in that year, and how much she's grown, I'm blown away by her achievements. I'm also blown away by my achievements. The first year of a child's life is the hardest and I survived! I'm raising an intelligent, funny, loving and happy little girl and I'm proud of myself for being the kind of mother I always wanted to be.
God knows I've had my moments, but I've always got through them. And I've done it with patience and love, knowing I'm focused on what's best for her. I've learnt so much in the process which has made me a better parent and person in the process.
My little girl is such a joy and spark in my life. I never realised how dull it was before her. Now, I look forward to watching her learn and grow and sharing many more birthdays with my cheeky monkey!
